Lisboa

Wir erleben die Küste Portugals hautnah und von Aveiro bis São Pedro de Moel erstreckt sich ein langer Strand - für uns als Düne und lichter Pinienwald sichtbar. Die Strassen sind manchmal sehr gut, dann wieder holperig und voller Löcher. Portugal ist bereits das dritte Veloland und bei uns macht sich eine gewisse Müdigkeit bemerkbar. 

Sleeping in tent, always looking for a new spot to stay over night and cycling almost everyday...we feel slowely but surley a bit tired. 

Um so mehr freuen wir uns, nach einem weiteren schönen Küstenabschnitt, bei Nicolas zu verweilen und die Annehmlichkeiten einer Wohnung zu geniessen. Er und Simon haben sich vor 10 Jahren in Zermatt getroffen und beide sind fasziniert vom Meer und den Wellen - Nicolas als erfolgreicher Bodyborder mit eigener Bodybord- und Surfschule (shorebreak.pt)

We enjoyed resting some days at a Nicolas place. Always good with locals: We had the chance to eat in a traditional restaurant: sardinas assadas (grilled sardines), robalo (grilled fish), patatas, vegtables, red wine, moscatel and schnaps.

Wunderschöne kleine Dörfchen schmiegen sich an die felsige Küste.

Cabo de Roca is the most western place in Portugal.

Just after arriving at our new warmshower place in Lisboa we could enjoy a nice lunch with Luis in his backyard.

                 Impressions of Lisboa

The very old but famos tramway. Dieses Tram besteht nur aus einem Wagen und die Fahrt ist ruckelig und holperig. Aber um die Stadt der sieben Hügel, wie Lissabon auch genannt wird, zu erkunden ist es sehr praktisch.

Enge Gassen im Alfama-Quartier. We spend a evening here and enjoyed delicious tapas while listening to Fado music.

Die Geschichte Portugals ist eng verknüpft mit der Schifffahrt und Eroberung neuer Kontinente. To have a deeper lock in the history of Portugal we visited the Marine Museum. An enormous collection of ship-models gave us the possibility to learn about the times of the conquistadores.

Mhhhh...Pasteis de Belem...eine Spezialität aus Lisboa. We had to make the cue to get them, because they are a tourist attraction.

Velocity - ein gemütliches Cafe, wo sich alles ums Velo dreht. A place for cyclists and bicycle...you can even take the bike inside.

Nach ein paar wunderbaren Tagen sagten wir schweren Herzens "Tschüss" zu Luis. Together we cycled to the trainstation - Luis with the bicycle of Simon and Simon with the "Brompton" of Luis. Brompton: a masterpiece of a folding bike!

Zum ersten Mal laden wir dir Velos in den Zug um wieder ein bisschen in den Norden zu fahren, wo wir ohne grossen Verkehr ins Landesinnere, Richtung Evora, fahren können. Yes its true, we used the train :) - but just to drive again to the north to avoid the heavy trafic of Lisboa. Thank you for the tip, Luis.

Camping near Mora. At nigth, we woke up due to a strange noise. It sounded like somebody would spray water on our tent with a hose. After checking we found that there was a automatic watering system working during the nigth. There was not much to do about it. Try to sleep and let the system wash tent and bikes.
