Lisboa

Sleeping in tent, always looking for a new spot to stay over night and cycling almost everyday...we feel slowely but surley a bit tired.

We enjoyed resting some days at a Nicolas place. Always good with locals: We had the chance to eat in a traditional restaurant: sardinas assadas (grilled sardines), robalo (grilled fish), patatas, vegtables, red wine, moscatel and schnaps.

Cabo de Roca is the most western place in Portugal.

Herzlicher Empfang in Lisabon von Luis und seinem Sohn Sebastiao.
Just after arriving at our new warmshower place in Lisboa we could enjoy a nice lunch with Luis in his backyard.

                 Impressions of Lisboa

The very old but famos tramway.

We spend a evening here and enjoyed delicious tapas while listening to Fado music.

To have a deeper lock in the history of Portugal we visited the Marine Museum. An enormous collection of ship-models gave us the possibility to learn about the times of the conquistadores.

Mhhhh...Pasteis de Belem...eine Spezialität aus Lisboa. We had to make the cue to get them, because they are a tourist attraction.

A place for cyclists and bicycle...you can even take the bike inside.

Together we cycled to the trainstation - Luis with the bicycle of Simon and Simon with the "Brompton" of Luis. Brompton: a masterpiece of a folding bike!

Yes its true, we used the train :) - but just to drive again to the north to avoid the heavy trafic of Lisboa. Thank you for the tip, Luis.

Camping near Mora. At nigth, we woke up due to a strange noise. It sounded like somebody would spray water on our tent with a hose. After checking we found that there was a automatic watering system working during the nigth. There was not much to do about it. Try to sleep and let the system wash tent and bikes.

Portugal

After cycling 20km in the wrong direction we found our host Guillermo in his beautiful old stonehouse, the backyard full of fruits and vegetables.

Guille and his parents were looking after us very well. We got to see the beaches with old celtic ruins, he showed us around Santiago and we got to try the churros con chocolate, pimentos de padron and even the home made orujo.

On the ferry to Vigo, the beaches were still full of tourists and the traffic made us suffer.

Special appartement block on a little island near Vigo. We strugeled to find a place for our tent...

...but in the end we got lucky. Honored with a pictoresque sunset, after climbing a littel hill to overview the hole area.

Ein gefärlicher Job. Percebes-Muschelnsammeln auf den Felsen in der Brandung.

Happy on the way to Portugal. Where Aleksander our Lativan friend was allready waiting for us.

Camping at praia de Afife. Very close to the sea.

Unlucky day, while eating breakfast my tire blew off. Trying to repair it I stood on dog shit and then had a really hard time finding a replacment tube.

The fire gives us warm at the chilly evenings and and the possibilty to eat seafood (musels & fish)

The roads for cyclists are not always like this and there is more traffic and holes.

Guess what it is!
Right, pinetrees from below.

Kilometers of lonley beaches.
